  1. First and foremost Hip-hop is dead. Rap music is alive and well! The fact of the matter is that art and commerce don't mix. Over the years more and more hip-hop artists have compromised their integrity to achieve mass appeal. The result was a generation new rappers who had no idea what hip hop was and should be. Hence the death of hip hop. Now let's get to its counterpart R&B. That genre died out for the same reason. It lost its soul. You don't have to take my word for it, numerous artists have interviewed and said the same thing, most notably Brandy and Ne-yo. When asked about the state of the music she emphasized that she wished that artist that can do R&B would do just that - R&B music! Ne-Yo lamented that there was no feeling in the music.Funny enough both of these artists have found recent success in club/dance hits, rather than heartfelt ballads. Think about it my R&B junkies. When was the last time Trey Songz got on a track and sung his heart out? (probably not since he did "can't help but wait"). The point is real hip hop and real soul music will never see another breath of life unless we support the songs and artists who dedicate themselves to that artform.
